Mucocutaneous Lymph Node Syndrome

Abstract
The first case of mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome was seen by Dr. Kawasaki in January, 1961, and first was reported by him in 1967 following an experience with 50 patients.
The principal symptom is fever, bilateral conjunctivitis, changes of the lips and oral cavity, swelling of the cervical lymph nodes, erythematous skin eruption, and changes of the peripheral extremities.
The mortality rate related to mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome is between 1 and 2 percent. Death usually occurs between the l0th and 60th day from the onset of fever. Death usually is caused by rupture of coronary artery aneurysm or by coronary thromboarteritis.
